Tournament FAQs

This event is all about creating a new hockey community and making new hockey friends.  In this spirit, the Frozen Lemonade Cup tournament is a bit different than most as we purposely do not register “teams” to participate. We register players (Mites, Squirts & PeeWees) as individuals and balance the teams with players of all skill levels to ensure parity as best we can.  In order to so do, and with 1000 hockey players to arrange, we are unable to accept requests for teammates.

While we encourage you to help us recruit more players, the Frozen Lemonade Cup is a unique hockey tournament in that registration is for individuals only and not for teams.  Our computer software is designed to capture a bunch of information about your hockey player’s skill level and position, which we use to ensure the teams are as even as possible. We whole-heartedly support you sharing our event information with friends, neighbors and hockey families, however players will still be registered individually.  It’s important to note here that we are unable to accommodate requests for teammates. We are hoping to expand our hockey communities and want players to partner with new teammates and make friendships that last beyond the event.

In an effort to build excitment for something new, we graduate players to the next season’s hockey level.  Kids can celebrate that for the Frozen Lemonade Cup, they are officially moving up!  Please reigster your player in the divison they will play for the 20-21 season.  If your player is entering a new division and you feel unsure about it, please remember that half of the kids on your players team are also new to that division.  We may be biased but we truly believe this is the most fun way to introduce players to a new divsion.

  1. Select from one of the pre-determined amounts or click “Other,” to choose your own custom amount.
  2. Just below, you will be able to attribute your contribution to a team member. You may select the team member from the dropdown or begin typing their name into the search bar to narrow down your list.  Select your team member and continue below.

The Frozen Lemonade Cup tournament is designed to be a fun frenzy of activity on and off the ice.  Kids play 20 minute running clock games against all the other teams in their age bracket.  We will seed the teams for a playoff and then the top two teams compete for the Frozen Lemonade Cup. Penalties are resolved with a penalty shot.  All refs and coaches are USA Hockey certified.  In between games, there will be games, prizes, raffles, music and all the general craziness that comes with 200 kids running around a rink.

Yes you do and we love them!  We try our best to find a perfect fit for players. We order jerseys way ahead of time and we base sizes on ages and division.  We’ve been at this a few years and we always find the right size.  Yep, we have Goalie cuts too.

Unfortunately, we are unable to match number requests as the manufacturer assigns numbers by sizes.  We hope one day you’ll have a collection of different colors and numbers from the Frozen Lemonade Cup.

Let us know that you’re interested and we will happily find you a job.  We could not run these events without Coaches or Volunteers, we 100% need you.  Some gigs include scorekeepers, registration, raffle ticket sales, prize wheel operators, DJs, merchandise sellers, greeters and many others.

If you’re a USA hockey certified coach and would like to help out, thank you!  Please connect with us.

General information about registration times, team assignments, game schedules and other information is typically shared a few days before your Frozen Lemonade Cup Event after registration is complete and the rosters are set.

How to Create Your Fundraising Page

There are two ways to join the fundraising team!

  1. The first option is to register for the event as a player. Once you register, your contact info will be sent to our fundraising administrator and they will send you an email invite to create your account and join the team!
  2. If you’re not playing in the tournament but want to help the cause, just reach out to us by email and we can send you a link to join the squad!

Once you receive your link, you’ll need to take the following steps:

  1. You’ll be asked to write a personal message on why the cause matters to you. This is optional but something that we recommend doing. You don’t have to do this right away – you can customize and edit at a later date.
  2. Input a personal goal. This is entirely up to you but don’t be afraid to aim high!
  3. Click the “Join Our Team,” button where you’ll sign up for an account. You can create your account with Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, or a good old-fashioned email address.
